Producers Guild of Russia

Non-commercial partnership Producers Guild of Russia was founded on September 14, 1996. Since then, the Guild has come a long way as the profession of producer has taken shape and cinema industry has developed to be the most prospective field of industry and business in Russia.

During the last few years, Russian cinematography took a plunge onward, related not so much to the increase in the number of movie theaters and spectators, but largely to the triumphant return of national movies to theaters.

Early in 2004 the Guild's Managing Committee decided to modify the Charter, so that not only natural persons, but juridical persons as well, could be the Guild's members, such as Russian film studios and movie-making companies present in audiovisual industry.

The Guild has ceased to be a closed community. It is open for everyone who realizes the necessity for Russian cinema industry to develop and believes that time-tested rules of successful and professional cinema industry can and should apply to our country. The Guild members know that there is an organization in Russia which is devoted to protecting and defending the interests and rights of producers and audiovisual manufacturers to the benefit of everyone involved in cinema industry.

Nowadays Producers Guild of Russia comprises all the large members of movie-making industry in Russian Federation.

The Guild's primary concerns include:

creating unified legal framework to regulate activities of producers and movie-making companies;

initiating new legislative acts in the field which help promote cinema market in Russia and are related, among other things, to international cooperation;

representing and defending corporate interests of producers in various branches of government, on legislative and executive levels;

interacting with all the professional public and commercial unions in order to regulate controversial points on the dynamically developing cinema market (including creative work market).
An important part of the Guild's activity is taking part in various events held under the aegis of International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF). The Guild has officially been its member since 1997. Because of its FIAPF membership, the Guild is able to receive all the necessary information regarding events and tendencies in cinema industry worldwide.

The superior body of power in the Guild is the General Meeting where the Managing Committee as well as the President of the Guild are elected.
