Description
Museums: trusted sources of knowledge and inspiration.
Individual museums tell compelling stories about how they serve their
communities. How do we work together as a field to unite this narrative
into a powerful message about the valuable roles museums play?
Stories are great, but there also is an increasing demand for more
formal measurement of these results. What are the best ways to measure
the impact museums have on people's lives, and demonstrate our value to
society? How might we report on the outcomes of our work in order to
make an effective case for support? For our 2007 Annual Meeting in
Chicago, we invite the field to submit proposals that demonstrate how
you measure and communicate your value--educational, social, creative,
financial--in your communities. What research do you undertake to
measure the results of what you do? What communications strategies work
to convey to supporters the value of your efforts? How do you adjust
your messages for your various audiences?s a field we have big dreams.
We want and need the public to experience, celebrate and support
museums as never before. We want people, individually and collectively
in their communities, to understand how museums matter to them. AAM is
committed to effectively conveying the value of museums to the public,
the media, public policy-makers and funders. For this to succeed, we
need your ideas, your knowledge, your support and your assistance.
Together, we can help people better understand how, and why, museums
matter. Together, we can make a greater difference in people's lives.
