Description

The UK's only exhibition exclusively for broadcast sound

Once again the SOUND BROADCASTING EQUIPMENT SHOW has lived up to its name and remains the best event of its type in the UK.
Broadcast Bionics brought seminars back to SBES with their FUTUREZONE seminar theatre where the speakers were discussing the future of the industry, where technology was taking us all and with no specific sales pitches. How refreshing!
There were some first time exhibitors. CLARK MASTS TEKSAM brought their demonstration trailer which was like a porcupine with so many masts. These attracted great attention and Clark Masts quickly re-booked a stand space for SBES. Soundkit were exhibiting in their own right for the first time and had a very busy SBES. TELEX too had their own stand this year enabling them to show the full range of comms. Products.
SBES is always a good show for getting hands on consoles. There were plenty to be seen at SBES. Studer and Soundcraft, Sonifex, Thum & Mahr, Audio Developments, Clyde Broadcast, Calrec, Euphonix, Alice all had their own stands and elsewhere other mixers were represented on Marquee Audio, Total Audio and the Cunnings, Soundkit stands.
Microphones abounded. All the major manufacturers were represented. Sennheiser, Beyerdynamic, Audio-Technica, Audio Ltd., Micron (Audio Engineering), AKG on the Studer/Soundcraft/Harman Pro stand) and, of course, the HHB Flash Mic.
And of course PRECO Broadcast were there with their own version of the SBES on their stand. PRECO represent most of the major US and European product brands and their stand has grown to be a ‘must visit’ for everyone.
With a wealth of software systems, such as RCS, P Squared, ENCO, SSQ, Sigma and Cancode, as well studio design consultants, professional associations, trade magazines and even the industry regulator OFCOM exhibiting for the first time, everyone agreed it was another great SBES.
