Currently Ukraine is more than ever the focus of much attention from West European countries. Many factors are contributing to raise our country’s popularity and world recognition: the geographical location as the center of Europe; recent events in political, cultural and Ukrainian sports life, such as winning “Eurovision” in 2004; the Orange Revolution, and cooperation with Poland in holding Euro 2012. According to expert estimates the number of foreign tourists has tripled in the past six years. Along with this there is dynamic development in one of the most promising directions of travel industry, that of business tourism.

At the same time the domestic hotel realty market is being evaluated for availability of supply, both quantitative and qualitative. That is why investment in building new hotels and modernizing existing hotels is a promising market. Experts report that the present volume of foreign investments in the hotel industry has increased by a factor of three compared with the previous year and up to 2012 planned investment of over 300 million dollars in building and reconstruction of Ukrainian four-and-five star hotels will be achieved. World renown brands such as InterContinental, Sofitel (Accor Group), Holiday Inn, Novotel, Hilton, Marriott, and Six Continents are entering the domestic hotel market.

The Ukrainian restaurant business is just as interesting. During recent years a remarkable rise in this area has occurred and a variety of locations with different trends, concepts, and styles is opening each year. According to data from the State Committee of Statistics of Ukraine, revenues for the restaurant industry in January – September 2007 increased by 13.7% and totalled 8.1 billion UAH compared to the same period last year. At the same time the restaurant business is taking some risks, mainly by creating styles of new restaurants in response to the latest fashion crazes and public taste, which can be rather changeable. Consequently both the restaurant and hotel business need constant modernization of equipment, interior and exterior design elements, improvement of management structures, and service quality. That is why the holding of a specialized exhibition is the most effective instrument for presenting the latest fashions and styles, as well as the newest technologies and products for the domestic hotel and restaurant industry.


The major hospitality industry event – PRIMUS: HORECA UKRAINE, the 3rd international specialized exhibition of equipment, accessories, furniture and interior items for hotels, restaurants, cafes and shopping malls – will take place October 15 – 18, 2008 at the International Exhibition Center in Kiev.

PRIMUS: HORECA UKRAINE is the focus of business activity for Ukrainian hotel and restaurant market operators, the place to share information, and to present the latest novelties and achievements.
