Description

The Nigerian gas sector is embarking on an exciting period of growth and investment as the new President Umaru Yar’Adua focuses on repositioning Nigeria in a stronger position within the global gas market.  Key new strategies are in place to ensure progress in the form of the development of a Natural Gas Policy, Legislative Reviews, Fiscal Reforms, and a Gas Master Plan.

Reorganisation of Nigeria’s energy sector will see a move to maximize gas sector value and provide for substantial improvement in the short, medium and long term power requirements of Nigeria.  Additionally as a country with the 7th largest gas reserves in the world Nigeria, can make a significant contribution to the global gas supply.  Concrete steps towards realising this are evident through the Trans-Sahara gas pipeline (TSGP) project and the plans for an EU-Africa Energy Partnership.

This event, organised by ITE Group plc and FSG Communications Ltd in collaboration with the NNPC and the Ministry of Energy, will highlight major new opportunities available as a result of these plans, and facilitate involvement in the industry, which will complement Nigeria’s ambitious programme to speed up the development of the gas sector.
