Description
In 1949 Indianapolis, entrepreneurs Ed and Thelma Schoenberger had an idea to create a show that featured Holiday gift ideas, Santa Claus and a variety of arts and crafts, and the Christmas Gift & Hobby Show was born. From a handful of exhibitors and, of course, Santa the show has grown. Today, the Christmas Gift & Hobby Show is the largest of its kind in the Midwest. Over 60,000 patrons attended last year, and the show now boasts over 350 exhibitors selling "something for everyone " For 59 years the city of Indianapolis has marked the beginning of the holiday season with the opening of the Christmas Gift & Hobby Show. Twice the show has been selected as "one of the 200 Best Shows in the United States" by Sunshine Artist Magazine. This event is a true Mid-Western Tradition that attracts tens of thousands of shoppers!! Held in the West Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, this event covers 4 acres. Everything you'd need to have an enjoyable day is within the facility including food service, entertainment, and of course a Holiday shopping adventure. Seating is provided throughout the show. The West Pavilion is barrier free for the physically challenged. Stroll the newly restored Christmas Village shops filled with unique gifts, sample from an array of holiday foods and locally produced wine, visit with Santa or have a seat, relax and enjoy the scenery.
