Description
The Robocup is an international initiative to foster research in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and autonomous mobile robots. With the goals of exchange of creative ideas and the development of robotics systems since 1997 the RoboCup federation as the umbrella organisation organizes the annual world championshipsn for intelligent robots. The first world championship took place in Nagoya, Japan. Since then the world largest robotics event was held in such metropolis as Paris, Melbourne, Stockholm, Seattle, Bremen or Atlanta. 2009 this exciting event will be held the first time in Austria. From the 29th june to the 5th july 2009 the world best robotics teams will compete for the world championship in five soccer leagues, two rescue robot leagues and one service robot league. Moreover, pupils from all over the world will compete in three education competitions. for this largest and most important robotics event worldwide up to 3000 partipicants from 40 countries are expected to show exciting competitions and technology demonstrations in Graz.
