Malaysian shipping show attracts two prime ministers
05 May 2008
Asia Maritime & Logistics conference and exhibition 2008 will be held on June 24 to 26, 2008 in Cuala Lumpur Convention Center, Malaysia. Both the current and previous prime ministers of Malaysia are scheduled to speak at the forthcoming fifth Asian Maritime and Logistics event which will be held in Kuala Lumpur in late June. The current Prime Minister Hon. Dato’ Seri Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi, will officially open the event and present the Keynote Address. Showing clearly just how highly Malaysia values its maritime industries, previous Prime Minister Hon. Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamed will speak at the lunch on Day 1, Tuesday June 24. Malaysia’s maritime industries from tourism to tankers via fisheries, offshore oil, shipbuilding and ports are all currently booming. The buoyant conditions are both unprecedented and soundly based. The theme of the Conference “Sustaining growth amidst rising uncertainties” is, therefore, very appropriate. More than 500 of the nation’s maritime movers and shakers will discuss it. A compact but widely encompassing and interesting maritime trade show is a major component of the event. While it will be held alongside the Conference, it will be open, without charge, to non-delegates.
