HABITAT VALENCIA FORWARD houses an exhibition of 16th century liturgical furniture

26 September 2007
The next edition of Habitat Valencia Forward takes us through time in the world of furniture and decoration. What we can find at the Central Distributor of the Exhibition Centre ranges from the latest trends in design to 16th century civil furniture.

In its present edition, Habitat Valencia Forward presents a before and afterwards in the world of habitat in its cultural setting, Forward. Along with the 6 Nude Hall, where the best young creators of our time meet, an exhibition of 16th century Valencian liturgical furniture is to take place, an exhibition of great interest given its huge historic and cultural wealth.

Among the pieces on display, there are benches, wooden chairs, washbowls, columns and a bookrest which belonged to Juan de Ribera, an outstanding 16th century Valencian Renaissance personality. These elements have been provided by the Royal Corpus Christi College, some of which are presently being restored by the Valencian Institute of Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Assets of the Regional Valencian Government.

According to Carmen Pérez, the director of this Institute, it is a highly attractive exhibition which displays how the taste for refinement in furniture and objects for the home began five centuries ago. Placing this exhibition along with that of Nude is a real journey through time where we may contemplate our roots and how these have been evolving until the present-day.
