26 September 2007
A great spirit of anticipation surrounds the opening ceremony of the EMO Hannover 2007. Guests from around the world has presented to experience the festive start on the first day of the trade fair when Germany‘s President Horst Köhler declared it officially open. This is the first time ever that the German President has been in attendance at leading global industrial investment goods fair. As organizer of the EMO, the German Machine Tool Builders‘ Association (VDW) interprets this as a powerful signal underlining the importance of manufacturing technology and of the small-to-medium-sized industrial sector, both of which characterize EMO Hannover. From 17 to 22 September 2007, more than 2 100 exhibitors from 42 nations presented their industrial manufacturing products, solutions and services at the trade fair, making EMO Hannover the largest and most important meeting place for all international top-name manufacturers of metalworking technologies. In most countries worldwide, manufacturing technology is produced by small-to-medium-sized businesses. They are the real driving force behind the progress within the branch.
