The "BEAUJOLAIS"

27 September 2007

A name famous in the whole world representing a really authentic area. Between MÂCON and LYON, between the SAÔNE and the LOIRE department, the Beaujolais region represents 1750 square kilometers, 154 towns and 205.000 inhabitants.

Each year, the Beaujolais wine is worthily celebrated, as it represents an important asset region. The association "Balade en Terroir Gourmand", which groups together growers, farmers, restaurateurs and wine growers, initiated the "Fête de Beaujolais Gourmand" in 1997 in Tarare, a town known nationwide as the capital of muslin and curtains manufacturing. Every year, from the 3rd Wednesday of November, pleasure-lovers, who come now from all around the world share 5 days of celebration, tasting and shows.

TARARE - This town located in the "Green Beaujolais", celebrates every year the "Red Beaujolais". Capital city of the curtain and the veil, TARARE also celebrates every 5 years the muslin, the material which the town is renowned for. Located in the green mounts, the city and its region count about 20.000 inhabitants and offer a wide range of tourist possibilities. This year the celebration will take place November 17-18.
